ABOUT PV

PROGRESSIVE vision is an independent think-tank, campaigning for new and liberal solutions to the problems facing British and European society...

“...We believe that a dramatic extension of personal freedom would create a more peaceful, tolerant and wealthy society...”

“We believe that Britain’s centralised state has failed to adapt to the 21st century – and shows no sign of being capable of doing so.”

"We seek a rapid, substantial and permanent transfer of power away from politicians and bureaucrats directly to the citizens of our country.”

“We live in one of the most exciting times in history, enjoying the benefits of centuries of innovation and technological advance. Our aim is to encourage, stimulate, engage in, contribute to and lead a serious debate about how people can make the most of these opportunities.”

“Although we are critical of the status quo, we are not pessimists about the future.”

is a campaigning think tank which investigates and advocates radical, liberal solutions to the problems facing British society today. We are concerned that politicians of all parties appear addicted to centralised, state-initiated, authoritarian public sector approaches to the overwhelming majority of our country’s ills. We assert that a dramatic extension of personal freedom would not only lead to more fulfilling lives for individual men and women, but also to a more peaceful, tolerant and wealthier society.

We believe that many of society’s problems are either directly caused by the centralised state or could be better tackled by ordinary people. We therefore seek a rapid, substantial and permanent transfer of power away from politicians and bureaucrats directly to the citizens of our country.

We believe that Britain’s centralised state has failed to adapt to the 21st century – and shows no sign of being capable of doing so. We do not recoil from challenging institutions that have long been regarded as wise, benevolent and natural. In many areas – including health, education, housing and transport – the systems and approaches used today are little different from those used more than half a century ago, and no more effective.

We are frustrated by the opinion-poll driven culture of mainstream party politics, which we believe is proving to be a real barrier to implementing the serious reforms required in Britain and the European Union. Progressive Vision is not affiliated to any political party. We do not seek election to public office. The arguments we put and the ideas we advocate will never be based on what we think you want to hear.

Although we are critical of the status quo, we are not pessimists about the future. We live in one of the most exciting times in history, enjoying the benefits of centuries of innovation and technological advance. Our aim is to encourage, stimulate, engage in, contribute to and lead a serious debate about how people can make the most of these opportunities. If you agree with us, please join us.

Acceptable minimum standard of living

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has determined - after two years’ research - that £13,400 per annum is what a single person requires in order to secure an acceptable minimum standard of living...

Industry standing up to nanny state politicians!

Too many corporations face with an attack by interfering, nanny state politicians meekly roll over and pray their appeasement will be rewarded.  This is seldom so, and politicians reward appeasement with yet more intrusive regulation.
